Proposed ABC License for B Chord Brewery

Nov 23, 2015 | BRC, Friends News & Updates |

The B Chord Brewery is seeking a license as a craft beer brewery on a tract of land on Foggy Bottom Road, a gravel road parallel to and at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

A FORMAL HEARING WILL BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 24, 2015 AT 8:30 A.M. IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR, COUNTY OF LOUDOUN, 1 HARRISON STREET, S.E., LEESBURG, VIRGINIA 20177, TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIONS:

1. The place to be occupied by the applicant is so located with respect to a residential area that the operation of such place under the license will adversely affect real property values or substantially interfere with the usual quietude and tranquility of such residential area. REF: Section 4.1-222 A.2.d. of the Code of Virginia.

2. The number of licenses existent in the locality is such that the granting of a license is detrimental to the interest, morals, safety or welfare of the public. REF: Section 4.1-222 A.3. of the Code of Virginia.

The formal hearing is to determine if the license should be granted as is required by Section 4.1-224 of the Code of Virginia.

Many local residents are concerned about the impact on their property values, increased traffic and noise, safety and wellbeing of the residents and the threat to the groundwater in the area. They will be going before the ABC Boardmeeting to object to the granting of an alcohol license for this establishment, which they maintain will become a”destination brewery” with large events.

There are already no less than 4 wineries/breweries at the end of Foggy Bottom Road, next to Great Country Farms. They will add this one to the “Ale Trail” and patrons, including bikers, can drink beer and then travel on our narrow gravel country roads. Driving down Foggy Bottom Road and Ridgeside and Bridgestone, almost every property is fenced for horses or farm animals. There are 11 equine businesses within a 2 mile radius, and 4 are adjacent to this site. Over 105 letters have been submitted by neighbors who strongly oppose the construction of this brewery and its expected impact on the area.

We invite you to join us at this meeting to support Friends, and our neighbors on the mountains, and to learn more about this significant issue. Anyone interested in speaking at the meeting should call  (703) 777-0204.
