Featuring an Appalachian Trail Walk, boating, games, horseback rides & fishing at the Van Hyuck Farm in Round Hill, this event was an opportunity for families to experience the recreational opportunities the Blue Ridge offers… and to meet and greet others who share an interest in preserving and celebrating the mountain.
Guided tours of a trillium meadow in Fauquier County allowed members and their guests to view a prolific display of this most lovely mountain specimen, indigenous to the Blue Ridge, in full bloom.
This event, to welcome new and prospective members, featured a facilitated dialogue during which attendees rotated among tables to generate ideas about opportunities and aspirations for the work of Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains going forward.
On a foggy winter afternoon, the Bears Den hostel, situated just behind the panoramic overlook off Route 601, provided a cozy setting for a crowd of 75 who gathered to listen to mountain music and hear old-timers spin tales of growing up on the Blue Ridge.
