Al Van Huyck, 2014 Recipient of the “Friend of the Mountain” Award

The 2014 Friend of the Mountain Award was presented to Al Van Huyck, founding member of Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and former President of the Friends  Board of Directors, for his commitment and leadership in conservation work across the region.  Al is currently a member of the Land Use committee and in addition to his work with Friends he has served on the Loudoun County Planning Commission and the board of the Loudoun Preservation Society, and is a founder and member of the Loudoun Preservation and Conservation Coalition.  His work has sought to create a culture of stewardship around our region’s natural and historic treasures.
