January 27 — 2022 Winter Session – Goose Creek Watch

The Blue Ridge Conservation Alliance (BRCA) is dedicated to preserving and protecting a highly threatened portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains stretching from the Shenandoah National Park to the Potomac River.

Join BRCA on January 27 from 3:30-5 PM to learn more about Goose Creek Watch, a collaborative effort to monitor the health of Goose Creek. Since August of 2021, The Goose Creek Association (GCA) has been monitoring 6 key sites on the creek in partnership with The Friends of Shenandoah River and its laboratory at Shenandoah University. GCA will be adding benthic monitoring results in the near future in partnership with Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. Additionally, The Downstream Project is providing Creek Watch web integrations and data visualizations utilizing the Water Reporter application. Be sure to tune in to learn more about this exciting collaboration, as well as the health of the iconic Goose Creek!

January 28 – Cabin Fever Film Festival – Franklin Park Arts Center  

The Cabin Fever Film Festival, celebrating its 5^th year in 2022 features films created by residents of Loudoun County or those with ties to the community. Feature length films, documentaries, short films, live-action, stop-motion, animation, music videos, even home movies are submitted.

The Land Trust of Virginia (LTV) has been selected to showcase a short film it produced about its’ conservation work. The 15-minute film will be shown during the Friday, January 28th showcase of Loudoun focused films, from 7 to 8:15 PM.

Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.

February 11 – 2040 

Join The Land Trust of Virginia (LTV) with your children and grandchildren for a Valentine’s Day weekend screening of 2040, a visionary story of hope about the climate crisis, exploring the very real possibility that humanity could reverse global warming and, in the process, improve the lives of every living thing.

Guided by the voices of 100 children aged 6 to 11 describing the world they hope we will leave for them; filmmaker Damon Gameau takes us on a global journey to meet scientists, innovators, and ordinary citizen changemakers and learn about the solutions already available to us now, and to envision what the world of 2040 could be if we rapidly put those solutions to work.

This is the narrative that all generations need to see, to believe in, to work to bring about.

2040 will be available to registrants from 7:00 PM 2/11/2022 until midnight Monday 2/14/2022.
