Round Hill Appalachian Trail Festival Fun

On June 15th Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains helped sponsor the Round Hill Appalachian Trail Festival at B Chord Brewery.  

The Festival celebrated the Town of Round Hill receiving the coveted designation from the ATC as an “Appalachian Trail Community.”  The Blackburn Center on the Blue Ridge above Round Hill is a favorite overnight destination for thru-hikers.  Maintaining the rural viewshed from the Appalachian Trail is another important reason why Friends works to protect and preserve the mountains and foothills from over-development.

The Festival was well attended and our booth drew lots of attention.  It was a fun and informative day for both volunteers and attendees who heard presentations on the history of the Trail and advice for would-be hikers.
