SPRING CLEAN UP PARTY at Blue Ridge Regional Park

Feb 26, 2013 | Education and Stewardship, Friends News & Updates |

Friday, April 19th, 2013 at 12:00 PM

Join us for a Spring clean-up party to remove invasive species at Blue Ridge Regional Park sponsored by Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains in conjunction with The Virginia Native Plant Society and The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.

Volunteers will gather between noon at 1:00 p.m. at the park (see directions below). Experts will instruct us in the proper methods to remove invasive species. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, work gloves, and sturdy shoes. Please bring a tool such as hand clippers or loppers.

We will work together for two hours and then enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The program will end by 4:00 p.m.

Directions: The Blue Ridge Regional Park is located off Rte 601 (Blue Ridge Mountain Road). Drive west on Route 7 to the top of the mountain, turn left on Mountain Road and proceed about three miles. The entrance (marked) is opposite a wall with pyramid stone posts. To register call Al Van Huyck (540-338-3524) or e-mail avanhuyck@aol.com, Karl Mohle at kmohle@nvrpa.org.
